Context and Objectives
Access to safe drinking water remains a major challenge for many urban populations in Cameroon. In the Nyalla Kambo neighborhood of Douala, the growing demand for potable water required a reinforcement of the existing distribution network in order to meet household needs and improve living conditions.
Within this framework, CAMWATER entrusted PHS CAMEROON with the plumbing works for the extension of the drinking water distribution network.
Project Description
The project aimed to modernize and expand the coverage of the hydraulic network to ensure a reliable and continuous supply. Our work was carried out in several phases:
· Technical studies and site preparation: topographic surveys, assessment of the existing network, and planning of pipeline routes.
· Installation and connection of pipelines: laying of new main and secondary pipes with connection to CAMWATER’s central network.
· Equipment installation: setting up valves, control devices, and safety components required for proper system operation.
· Testing and commissioning: pressure checks, leak tests, and performance verifications before the network was put into service.
Challenges and Solutions
The project required careful organization to minimize disruptions to traffic and residents’ daily activities. Our teams adopted a phased approach, segmenting interventions and maintaining constant communication with local communities. The use of high-quality materials and strict adherence to safety and hygiene standards ensured the reliability and durability of the installations.
Project Impact
The successful completion of this project marks an important step in improving living conditions in Nyalla Kambo. Hundreds of households now benefit from easier access to drinking water, reducing health risks and improving daily comfort.
This achievement also demonstrates PHS CAMEROON commitment to actively contributing to the sustainable development of hydraulic infrastructure in Cameroon, in partnership with leading institutions such as CAMWATER.
Our Commitment
Beyond the technical dimension, this project reflects our dedication to putting our expertise at the service of social progress. We believe that every drop of safe water distributed is a victory for the health, education, and well-being of communities.
