Rehabilitation and Upgrading of the Outdated Fire Detection System in the Building Housing the CNPS Regional Directorates for the Littoral, Southwest, and Northwest Regions, located in Douala Bonanjo
1. Context
The Bonanjo building housing the CNPS Regional Directorates for the Littoral and Southwest Regions has an obsolete and currently out-of-service fire detection system. This building, which is open to the public and houses sensitive administrative data, required an upgrade of its fire safety system to ensure the protection of occupants and property, as well as regulatory compliance.
2. Assessment/Current Situation
Existing fire detection system not operational (out of service).
Lack of reliable detection coverage across all levels of the building.
Risk of non-compliance with fire safety standards applicable to public access buildings (ERP) and administrative office buildings.
3. Project Objective
To rehabilitate the building's fire safety system in order to:
Restore functional fire detection throughout all high-risk areas and occupied spaces
Ensure alarm transmission and signage comply with current standards
Protect occupants and the CNPS's documentary/administrative assets
Bring the building into compliance with Cameroonian fire safety regulations
4. Scope of Work
Complete assessment of the existing installation
Replacement/rehabilitation of the fire detection control panel (CMSI)
Replacement of detectors (smoke/heat) according to building zoning
Verification and repair of wiring and detection loops
Checking of associated devices (smoke extraction, audible alarm, and potentially fire suppression)
Operational testing and commissioning
Brief training for CNPS staff on system operation
